Midlands RL Merit League Logo

Just in case you were wondering where the MML logo came from, here is a short explanation...

I decided that the league needed a logo and I'm not very good with artwork so I was struggling. One day I was wandering around the online encyclopedia wikipedia.com when for reasons I can't recall I was reading about the ancient kingdom of Mercia. I looked at the map of where Mercia used to be and it looked remarkably like the area covered by the MML.

On further investigation I discovered that the flag of Mercia was a yellow saltire (diagonal cross) on a blue background, similar to the cross of St. Andrew. I decided this was easy to copy so I added some text and the sponsor logo.

I subsequently discovered that the flag of pre-Christian (pagan) Mercia was a really cool white dragon on a black background. However, the use of the white dragon specifically in Mercia is disputed so it's probably best to use what is known to be fact.
